Salt Spray Testing
This is a static corrosion test that is utilized by most industries to quantify the relative corrosion of a product by the number of hours it can withstand without corrosion.
The typical salt spray standards that are utilized:

- ISO 9227 - Corrosion tests in artificial atmospheres - Salt spray tests
- General Motors GMW3286 - Procedure for Neutral Salt spray test

Humidity Testing
Humidity testing is performed in the same environment as salt spray testing but is done without the salt component. This makes the test less harsh. This is optimal for research in lower grade rust inhibitors.
The typical humidity test standards that are utilized are:
- ASTM D1735 - Standard Practice for testing water resistance of coatings using water fog apparatus
- General Motors GMW14729 - Procedures for High Humidity Test
Custom humidity testing can be designed to mimic storage conditions with a range of 10 to 85 C and a relative humidity range of 20% to 98%.
Cyclic Testing
This testing is designed to be more "real" world. This type of testing utilized multiple stages of environmental conditions. The transition from each stage accelerates corrosion. For example, there may be a high humidity stage, wet stage and a dry stage that cycles every 8 hours.
The typical cyclic standards that are utilized are:

Adhesion Testing
Adhesion testing is another method to evaluate coatings, paints and platings. Multiple methods can be utilized to determine the performance.
The typical adhesion standards that can be used are:
- ASTM D3359 - Standard Test Methods for Measuring Adhesion by Tape.
- ASTM B571 - Standard Practice for Qualitative Adhesion testing of metallic coatings
- ISO 2409 - Paints and varnishes cross cut test
